Bakersfield hands Vaqueros first loss, 7-2

Bakersfield went 5-1 in singles on Tuesday en route to a 7-2 women's tennis win over SBCC on the Pershing Park courts.

It was the first loss of the year for the Vaqueros (2-1, 1-1 WSC). The unbeaten Renegades improved to 8-0 and 3-0.

Lesly Zapata De Lira got the Vaqueros' singles point, sweeping Brittany Aguilar 6-4, 6-1 at No. 3. Laura Berther and Julianna Adelman won the doubles point with an 8-1 triumph at No. 2.

The Vaqueros were scheduled to play three matches in the Ventura College North/South Challenge this weekend but they have been cancelled by predicted rain. The next match will be Tuesday at new WSC member Victor Valley at 2 p.m.
