Vaqueros too much for San Diego Mesa, 7-2

SBCC swept the 2 through 5 singles on Saturday, dropping just three games, and added two doubles wins for a 7-2 women's tennis victory at San Diego Mesa.

Danielle Garrido, the defending state singles champion, beat the Vaqueros' top player, Brenna Casey 6-0, 6-0, and took her doubles set 8-2 with partner Chrissy Seggerman.

Laura Berther, Tyler Bunderson, Julianna Adelman and Paige Jensen recorded singles wins at Nos. 2 through 5 in straight sets with Berther and Adelman winning 6-0, 6-0. Jensen won 6-1, 6-1 at No. 5 for her sixth straight victory and 10th in 11 matches. She's 10-3 in singles and 8-1 in doubles with Josephine Pulver.

The Vaqueros (9-5) have won four of their last five. The Olympians fell to 2-8.

SBCC has two WSC home matches this week, vs. Victor Valley on Tuesday and Glendale on Thursday, both at 2 p.m.
