SBCC won the first five singles in straight sets on Tuesday and went on to defeat Santa Monica 8-1 in the WSC women's tennis opener for both schools.
Katelyn Peyvandi topped Abby Mullins 7-6 (5), 6-2 at No. 1 singles. The Vaqueros (2-1, 1-0) won the next four singles and dropped just nine games in eight sets.
"Katelyn did a great job in the first set and got control of the match in the second," noted SBCC coach Christina Klein. "Julie Kollandsrud made her debut at No. 6 singles and lost a tight 10-8 tiebreaker after splitting two sets."
Peyvandi/Gabrielle Goss and Pia Valtierra/Hanna Pesniak each posted wins at Nos. 1 and 2 doubles by scores of 8-1 and 8-3, respectively.
The Vaqueros will host Ventura on Thursday at 2 p.m.
