Vaqueros stay perfect in WSC with 9-0 sweep at AVC

Jamaica Buyse and Joica Buyse took the No. 1 and 2 singles and teamed up for an 8-0 win at No. 1 doubles on Thursday, leading first-place SBCC to a 9-0 women's tennis victory at Antelope Valley.

It was the eighth straight win for the Vaqueros (10-1, 8-0). SBCC has won 65 of 72 individual matches in conference play.

"Overall we did well, despite the windy conditions," said coach Christina Klein. "The closest matches were at #1 and #3 singles.

Jamaica Buyse took the No. 1 singles 6-1, 7-5 and Anya Nicolaides won No. 3 by a 6-4, 6-2 count.

The Vaqueros will travel to Costa Mesa on Friday to take on Orange Empire leader Orange Coast (9-0) at 2 p.m.
