Jessica Escalante recorded 2 fourths and a fifth in the prestigious Ben Brown Invitational women's track and field meet on Saturday at Cal State Fullerton. The meet featured many of the top two-year programs in Southern Cal as well as four-year schools like USC, CS Fullerton, Loyola Marymount, Pepperdine, Azusa Pacific, Vanguard and Cal Poly Pomona.

SBCC athletes recorded 12 season bests with some competing at the Occidental Distance Carnival on Friday night in Eagle Rock.

Escalante, a freshman from Dos Pueblos High, posted three season bests. She was fourth in the javelin at 34.18 meters and fourth in her 100 heat in 12.77. She also placed fifth in her 200 heat in 25.89. All three marks landed her in the SBCC Top 10 all-time list, led by the javelin throw (112 feet, 2 inches) which was No. 7.

Escalante also ran the second leg on the 4 x 100 relay team that recorded the No. 9 all-time school mark (50.47). Kaitlin Heely had two best marks in the 100 (13.04) and 200 (26.58), winning her heat in both races, and was also on the 4 x 100m relay.

Other best marks were turned in by Marla Bonser (200, 27.61); Mia Owens (3000 steeplechase, 12:34.57) and Hailey Brundy in the javelin (29.36m).

The Vaqueros will host the Easter Relays on Friday at La Playa Stadium, starting at 11 a.m.
