Rucker is 2nd in WSC high jump; Escalante qualifies in 4 events

        WSC Championships Results

Kathryn Rucker took second in the high jump on Friday with her second-highest clearance of the season in the WSC Women's Track & Field Championships at Antelope Valley in Lancaster.

Rucker cleared 1.67 meters in the event which was won by Glendale's Justice Shank at 1.71m.

The temperatures were cool and the winds were high in the 11-team competition. Glendale edged West LA 168 to 153.75 for the title and Canyons was third at 92.75. SBCC took seventh with 57 points.

The top six finishers qualified for the Southern Cal Regional on May 2-3 at Riverside City College.

Jessica Escalante, a freshman from Dos Pueblos High, qualified in four events. She was sixth in the 100 meters with a PR of 12.32, which is No. 3 all-time for SBCC. Escalante, who qualified in the javelin last week, was also on the 4 x 100m relay and 4 x 400m relay squads that earned spots in the So Cal Prelims.

Nicole Bartlett qualified in the 800 (2:26.20) and 1500 (5:03.00) while Christina Khalil qualified in the 100 hurdles (17.13) and triple jump (9.75m). Alyssa Garrett qualified in three events – the 100 hurdles (18.27), the 400 hurdles (1:09.97) and also ran on the 4 x 400 relay team.
