Kathryn Rucker finished fifth in the women's high jump on Saturday in the 64th CCCAA State Track and Field Championships at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.

Rucker, a sophomore at SBCC, cleared 1.60 meters (5-3) to finish two spots higher than she did in last year's state meet. Last week, she broke the school record with a 5-7 clearance in the Southern Cal Championships.

Nicole Bartlett, a sophomore from Seattle, ran a four-second PR in the 1500, taking seventh in 4:45.97. It was the No. 6 time in SBCC history.

"She remained patient in a very fast-paced race and moved up well over the final lap to nab a spot on the podium," said coach Scott Fickerson. "We really rose to the occasion and performed exceptionally well. I'm proud of them and they represented SBCC in an oustanding fashion at the State Championships."

Mt. San Antonio won the women's title with 88 points, followed by Cerritos (75) and Riverside (73).
