Dean Roell and Jessica Escalante each posted a pair of wins on Friday in the Easter Relays women's track and field meet, hosted by SBCC.

Roell, a sophomore from Cabrillo High in Lompoc, captured the 800 and 1500. She led the 800 wire-to-wire and ran a personal-best 5:02.34. Escalante, a sophomore from Dos Pueblos High, took the javelin and discus with a lifetime best throw of 31.28 meters in the latter.

Alyssa Garrett won the 400 hurdles, Olivia Loy took the 400 meters and both were on the winning 4 x 400 relay team. Anyel Thomas placed first in the long jump.

"The women had a really good day," said coach Scott Fickerson. "We ran a lot of people in 'off events' but ended up with some really good marks anyway. This was the best race I've seen Dean run in her 1500. She was aggressive and tough and held her form together really well. To run a PR going wire-to-wire is not an easy thing to do.

"It was a lot of fun for me to see the team enjoying themselves competing at home. The meet went pretty smoothly and I appreciated all the help from the support staff."

The Vaqueros will compete in the WSC Coastal Meet on Friday at Cuesta.
