Jessica Escalante won three events and a relay and scored 40.5 points on Friday, leading SBCC to victory in the WSC Coastal women's track and field meet at Cuesta in San Luis Obispo.

The Vaqueros won eight events and had eight season-best marks. SBCC scored 178 points to win the five-school meet by 25 over Ventura. Moorpark was third with 78 points.

Escalante, a sophomore from Dos Pueblos High, won the 200, javelin and discus and was second in the 100. She also ran the opening leg on the winning 4 x 400 relay. Her 200 time of 25.41 was a PR and the fifth-best in SBCC history.

Juliette Alliaume scored 24 points with a win in the high jump (1.55 meters), second in the 400 hurdles and third in the 100 hurdles. Hailey Brundy had a pair of PRs, winning the shot put and taking second in the javeliln for 18 points.

Olivia Loy captured the 400 and anchored both winning relays. Her 400 split was a quick 58.7.

"The women came into this meet knowing they had a tough battle on their hands with Ventura," said coach Scott Fickerson. "I'm really proud of the team effort I saw today and happy that we came out with the win. This will be a great confidence builder as we near the WSC Prelims and Championships."

The Vaqueros will compete in the Mt. SAC Invitational on April 11, then the WSC Prelims on April 17 at Ventura.
