SBCC placed third in the 4 x 100 and 4 x 200 meter relays on Friday in the WSC Relays track and field meet at Ventura College.
The same runners ran in both races for the Vaqueros – Hannah Arnold, Molly Glassman, Tasleem Suttles and Nicole Stevens – and they clocked 50.79 and 1:49.78, respectively.
Stevens took fifth in the 400 hurdles while Maya Nelson was fifth in the shot put at 9.52 meters.
"The ladies put together a couple of nice relays and showed they can be real competitive this year with some fine tuning of our handoffs," said coach Scott Fickerson. "Maya is figuring out a couple of new throws (javelin and hammer) but with continued work, she'll also be one to watch later in the season."
The Vaqueros will travel to Bakersfield for the WSC North meet on Friday at noon.
