Maya Nelson recorded season bests in the hammer, shot put and discus on Friday, leading the SBCC women's track and field team in the WSC North Meet at Memorial Stadium in Bakersfield.

The freshman from Old Bridge, N.J., tossed the hammer 28.11 meters for the No. 10 all-time mark in school history. She was third in the shot put at 10.68 meters.

Nicole Stevens was second in the 400 hurdles in a season-best 1:12.52. Hannah Arnold placed third in the 100 with the No. 7 all-time mark of 12.50.

The Vaqueros competed against four schools – Bakersfield, Canyons, Cuesta and Hancock.

"The ladies had a lot of personal-best marks," said coach Scott Fickerson. "Maya had a great day in the throws. Hannah's endurance is coming along well as her early season 60-meter success is starting to show in the 100m."

The Vaqueros will compete in the Occidental Invitational on Friday, March 11 in Eagle Rock.
