Yuliana Garibay placed second in the 3000 steeplechase on Thursday, leading the SBCC women's track team against a talented field at the Cal State L.A. Twilight Open.
The meet featured NCAA Div. 1 and 2 schools from across the country as well as athletes from countries like Brazil, Nigeria and Trinidad & Tobago.
Garibay, a freshman from Santa Ynez High, ran a season-best 13:09.82 in the steeplechase. Ryann Rhodeman (13.33) and Molly Glassman (13.46) notched season bests in the 100 meters and Tasleem Suttles jumped a season-high 4.80 meters in the long jump.
The Vaqueros will compete in the WSC Prelims on Friday at College of the Canyons in Valencia.
