SBCC picked up a first and second in relay events on Friday and Christy Chavira was second in the 5000 in the WSC Relays women's track and field meet at West L.A.
Six athletes competed for the Vaqueros. The 4x200-meter team of Shoelle Bruhin, Caroline Smith, Isabella Molony and Elisa Poeyry placed second in a close race. West L.A. won in 1:50.03, edging the Vaqueros (150.48) by 45 hundredths of a second. The same foursome ran unopposed in the 4x400 race and won in a time of 4:32.94.
Chavira, who placed 11th in the state 1500 in 2018, was second in the 5000 in 19:11. Molony was third in the long jump (4.32m).
The Vaqueros will compete in the WSC North meet on Friday at Ventura College, starting at 10 a.m.
