Katelynn Womack had 13 kills, 12 digs, four aces and three block assists on Friday night as No. 8 SBCC swept past Cuesta 25-21, 25-16, 25-18 for its 11th consecutive women's volleyball victory.

Taylor Badois added 13 kills on .455 hitting, plus three aces and three blocks for the first-place Vaqueros, who improved to 7-1 on the road. SBCC is 15-4 and 6-0 in WSC North play. The Vaqueros have won 16 straight WSC matches, dating back to last year.

"With the score tied 13-13 in the first set, we got a couple of great serving runs by Eryn Young and Tristen Thompson to create separation," said coach Ed Gover. "They led early in the 2nd set before Taylor and Katelynn took over with strong hitting.

"We fell behind by four in the third set, then Katelynn went on a four-point service run to tie it at 7. After that, our passing steadied out, our serving got better and we closed them out with a 25-18 win."

Gover noted that Lea Michaels had a couple of nice blocks, playing in place of the injured Paige Sabin.

Alissa La Rocca had seven kills and Madelon Leiphardt handed out 32 assists with three kills and nine digs. Young, last year's WSC North Player of the Year, led in digs with 14 and also had two aces on a night when the Vaqueros collected 12 aces. Thompson added 10 digs and two aces.

SBCC has two home matches next week vs. L.A. Pierce (Wednesday at 6 p.m.) and Hancock (Friday at 6 p.m.). Both matches will be live-streamed on the Internet on the Vaquero Broadcasting Network. http://portal.stretchinternet.com/sbcc/
