SBCC will have revenge on its mind when it hosts top-ranked and undefeated L.A. Pierce in a key WSC North women's volleyball match tonight at 6 p.m. in the Sports Pavilion.

The Vaqueros (13-2, 1-0) are ranked No. 4 in California and the Brahmas (16-0, 1-0) are No. 1. Pierce is 48-7 in sets this year and edged the Vaqueros 3-2 on Aug. 29 in the championship final of the Pierce Kickoff Classic.

Santa Barbara has won four straight and 10 of its last 11 matches. Last Wednesday, the Vaqueros upset No. 3 Canyons 3-1 in the Sports Pavilion.

SBCC has captured the last three WSC North titles and is 33-2 in conference since 2012. The Brahmas, who switched from the WSC South to the WSC North in 2013, handed the Vaqueros both of those losses.

The Vaqueros are No. 1 in the state in kills (718), No. 5 in digs (900) and No. 6 in service aces (138). Katelynn Womack is seventh in kills (197) and Shannon Friend is No. 13 (172). Tristen Thompson is fourth in the state in digs with 278 and Raleigh McKinney is fifth in aces with 37.

The Brahmas are No. 1 in the state in aces (183) and sixth in kills (643) and hitting percentage (.268).  They're led by sophomore middle blocker Chelsea Lawrence (117 kills, .407 percentage), freshman outside hitter Zaire Dartis (110 kills, .250) and libero Darrin Rice (214 digs, 6th in state). Kristen White leads the state with 42 aces.
