No. 2 Vaqueros sweep Hancock for 20th win

Shiloe Parsons had 38 assists, eight digs and two aces on Wednesday night as No. 2 SBCC swept past Hancock 25-18, 25-17, 25-10 in a WSC North women's volleyball match in Santa Maria.

The Vaqueros (20-3, 8-1) reached the 20-win plateau for the fourth time in seven years and remained in a first-place tie with No. 1 L.A. Pierce, which defeated Ventura 3-1.

Ed Gover, in his 25th year as head coach, has three 21-win seasons – 21-6 in 2010, 21-3 in 2009 and 21-3 in 1999 when the Vaqueros were second in the state.

Shannon Friend had 10 kills and hit .333 for the three-time defending conference champions while Kaitlyn Clemann and Katelynn Womack added eight kills apiece. Clemann hit .467 for the match. Tristen Thompson had 14 digs and four of her team's 13 aces.

SBCC is 40-3 in its last 43 conference matches.

The Vaqueros will host Moorpark on Friday at 6 p.m.
