Andrulis is Player of the Year in WSC North

Carolyn Andrulis was chosen as Player of the Year in the WSC North and eight SBCC women's volleyball players made the all-conference team.

Andrulis, a 5-9 freshman outside hitter from Las Vegas, was third in the conference in kills (257) and fifth in digs (259). She's the fifth straight Vaquero to be named Player of the Year. She was also named to the All-Southern Cal Region team.

    2016 All-WSC North Team

Claire Bagdasar was the Libero of the Year and Ed Gover took Coach of the Year honors for the sixth time. Bagdasar, a freshman from San Diego, was fourth in the WSC North with 306 digs (3.44 per set) and had 33 aces.

Kaylene Ureno and Kiana Pisula were first-team selections. Ureno, a freshman right-side hitter from Turlock, was sixth in the conference in kills (208), eighth in digs (246) and led the team in aces with 38. Pisula, a freshman setter from Sonora, was second in assists with 765 (8.5 per set) and sixth in digs with 255. She had 12 double-doubles on the year.

The Vaqueros (23-4) won their fifth straight conference title with a perfect 8-0 record. They've won seven of the last eight WSC North championships.

Shannon Friend was a second-team choice along with middle blocker Isabella Thompson. Friend, a sophomore hitter, led the Vaqueros in kills (259) and was No. 2 in the WSC North. She was third in the conference in hitting percentage at .291. Thompson was the Vaqueros' top blocker with 70 and was second in the WSC North with 50 solo blocks.

Middle blockers Hannah Cantrell and Jaela Caston were honorable mention.
