Maddie Leiphardt, a former star setter at SBCC in 2013-14, has been named second-team All-Big West in beach volleyball for the second straight year.

Leiphardt was selected to the 2017 All-Big West team with her partner at Cal State Northridge, Nickeisha Williams. The pair played No. 2 in the Matador lineup and tied for the most wins with nine.

Leiphardt, a former Dos Pueblos High standout, was named MVP of the team.

"I'm very happy for Maddie and Nicki, they did an outstanding job this season like a lot of our pairs did," CSUN head coach Jeff Stork said on the school's athletic website, www.go matadors.com. "Our team got a whole lot better as the season went on and that pair was very steady for us all year long.

"Maddie is a wonderful volleyball player and a very skilled beach player and I think the development of Nicki as a beach player was the key to that success. That partnership really flourished this season and it's nice to see them recognized by the conference coaches."

Leiphardt also played setter for two years on the CSUN indoor volleyball team.

At SBCC, she was the MVP of the WSC North and All-Southern Cal in 2014 when the Vaqueros went 20-6. She was a two-time all-conference player and her Vaquero teams went 39-14 overall and 22-2 in WSC play with two conference titles.
