Vaqueros seeded 7th for So Cal Regional, will host Long Beach on Tuesday

SBCC was seeded No. 7 for the Southern Cal Regional women's volleyball playoffs and will host Long Beach City on Tuesday night at 6 p.m.

The Vaqueros (21-6) shared the WSC North title with Moorpark at 7-1. Santa Barbara dropped a 3-1 decision to No. 3 Canyons on Wednesday night, ending a 12-match home winning streak.

The Vaqueros, led by WSC North co-Player of the Year Kaylene Ureno, Carolyn Andrulis, Libero of the Year Avery Mulvey and setter Kiana Pisula, have won 19 of their last 21 matches.

Long Beach is coached by three-time Olympic beach volleyball Gold Medalist Misty May-Treanor. The Vikings (17-4) started 1-3, then won 16 in a row before falling to No. 14 El Camino 3-1 on Nov. 8.

The Vaqueros are ranked 15th in the state poll and Long Beach is 14th. The Vikings and El Camino shared the South Division title of the South Coast Conference.

Long Beach's top player is 5-11 freshman Josannah Vazquez. She's 22nd in the state with 3.5 kills per set.

Ticket prices are $12 for general admission. $8 for identified students, faculty, staff, senior citizens age 60 and over, and children less than 12 years of age. No conference, staff, or parent booster passes will be honored.
