BAKERSFIELD, CA – The SBCC Women's Volleyball team picked up another split Saturday at the Bakersfield Quad tournament at Bakersfield College, beating El Camino 25-19, 25-22, 25-22 and falling to Mt. San Antonio 30-28, 22-25, 27-29, 16-25.

The Vaqueros began the day much like Friday, with a balanced offensive output. Charlotte Wilson and Sophie Ward compiled 19 and 10 assists, respectively. The team also served aggressively with 11 aces.

Also like their second match Friday, the second match on Saturday was "a grind for every point," head coach Kat Niksto said.

With two of the four sets going to extra points, there were some long rallies and all out defense. Middle blocker Katie McArthur came into the match midway and contributed offensively, while Natalie Lercari-Sullivan shared the setting duties, tallying 17 assists.

"At the end of the day they did a better job of terminating the ball, and we missed too many serves," Niksto said of the Mt. San Antonio match. "We have so much potential and it's fun to see different players step up at different times."

SBCC concludes the opening weekend 2-2 after playing against quality competition. They will head to Westcliff for their next match this Wednesday at 6:00 PM before hosting the SBCC Quad tournament next Saturday, playing Pasadena City and San Diego Mesa.
