SANTA BARBARA, CA – The Santa Barbara City College Women's Volleyball team lost 3 sets to 1 in both of their matches on Saturday, falling to Pasadena City and San Diego Mesa in the SBCC Quad tournament.

"We definitely learned and grew from the matches Saturday," head coach Kat Niksto said.

After coming out flat in their first two sets against Pasadena City, the Vaqueros bounced back with a strong third set. The ensuing fourth set came down to overtime points, but the Vaqueros could not complete the comeback, losing the match 17-25, 21-25, 25-17, 24-26.

In the second match against San Diego Mesa, the Vaqueros came out hot, serving excellently and winning the first set comfortably 25-16. San Diego Mesa took back the rhythm of the match quickly, though, winning the next three sets. The final score was 25-16, 20-25, 16-25, 16-25.

"Both teams were playoff teams from a year ago and playing with more sophomores on the court than we were," Niksto said. "You have to work [hard] to win matches against good teams.

"We are still finding the exact puzzle pieces to consistently play our best volleyball."

SBCC will travel down south for their next match at Long Beach, Wednesday night at 6:00 PM. The Vaqueros will be back at home next Friday, the 15th against Canyons.
