IRVINE, CA - The Santa Barbara City College Women's Volleyball team fell Wednesday night at Irvine Valley College, 3 sets to none.

Irvine Valley improved to 6-1, proving their prowess with a sweep of the Vaqueros, we are now 3-6.

"We battled hard against a playoff caliber team, but fell short," head coach Kat Niksto said. "Our struggle is with finding consistency in a full match."

After losing the first set 18-25, the Vaqueros found themselves down big early in the second set. A fervent comeback evened the score at 20 all, but Irvine Valley eventually closed it out, 23-25.

The third set Irvine Valley shut the door, winning the set 16-25, and the match.

Chaya Clemons and Evan Ybarra led the team with 6 kills, while Alexis (Birdie) Zevenbergen and Heidi Collins each had 5. Celia Espinoza had a solid night defensively, racking up 11 digs.

The Vaqueros will look to switch momentum back home on Friday against Canyons.
