GOLETA, Calif. – The No. 6-ranked Santa Barbara City College women's volleyball team won its sixth consecutive match by defeating Allan Hancock College 3-0 (25-22, 25-15, 25-13) on Friday at Robertson Gym at UCSB.
"Our energy was great. You know, we're a small group, so we have to provide a lot more noise than other teams," said head coach Kat Niksto.
Stephanie Groswirt posted 22 assists, seven digs and five kills, while Morgan Guardado chipped in 11 assists, nine digs, six kills and five service aces. Hazel Irving added seven kills on 15 total attacks, as she leads the WSC with a .456 hitting percentage. Isabella Lopez-Gonzalez paced the defensive effort with 15 digs.
"Tonight, we just really focus on executing well on our side. So it was less about the opponent tonight and more just about making sure we take care of the ball and make as few unforced errors as possible," said Niksto.
Looking ahead, SBCC prepares for a major conference clash against No. 7 LA Mission on Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 6 p.m. at Robertson Gym.
