Ed Gover is the dean of WSC volleyball coaches, entering his 28th season season in 2018.

The Vaqueros have dominated the last four years with records of 20-6, 25-4, 23-4 and 21-7 in 2017. They've won six straight WSC North titles and eight of the last nine. They're 58-4 in conference the last six years and have had six straight WSC North Players of the Year, including 2017 co-Player of the Year Kaylene Ureno.

His career record is 371-203 for a winning percentage of .646. Gover got his 350th win in a 3-0 sweep of Hancock in the final regular-season match of 2016.

The Vaqueros went 20-6 in 2014 and won the WSC North with an 11-1 record. In 2015, they were 25-3 overall and 11-1 in conference, sharing the title with L.A. Pierce. The 25 wins are the most in a single season for Gover and tied for the 2nd-most in school history.

SBCC was ranked No. 2 in the state for most of 2015, then received the No. 1 seed for the Southern Cal Regional. They beat Mt. SAC and Irvine Valley before falling to No. 4 Canyons 3-1. The Vaqueros finished fifth in the state for the second time in three years.

Gover earned his sixth WSC Coach of the Year honor in 2016. He was the Southern Cal co-Coach of the Year in 2015 and the WSC North co-Coach of the Year. He led the Vaqueros to a State Final in 1999 and has won 11 WSC championships. His WSC record is 187-96 (.661).

Gover has guided the Vaqueros to postseason appearances 12 times, including the last eight years in a row. In 2012, the team set a school record with 14 straight wins.

A graduate of Long Beach State, Gover was a volunteer assistant for a 49ers women's volleyball team that won the NCAA championship in 1989.

At the high school level, Coach Gover guided Melodyland High (now Southern California Christian) of Anaheim to a pair of CIF Southern Section championships, one state title and one state runner-up finish.  In club, Gover coached the Cal Juniors, where his 16-and-under teams won two silver medals at the Junior Olympics.

Gover also coaches the 13-1 team at the Santa Barbara Volleyball Club. In 2006, his squad won the bronze medal in the American Division at the Junior Olympics in Atlanta.
