Seale is SBCC’s Scholar-Athlete of the Year

Addison Seale was selected as SBCC's Scholar-Athlete of the Year and honored on Monday during the Santa Barbara Athletic Round Table press luncheon at Harry's Plaza Café.

She has a 3.6 GPA and is majoring in Communications.

The left-handed sophomore from La Jolla is captain on the Vaqueros' women's water polo and swim teams. She was the Western State Conference and Southern Cal Player of the Year last fall in water polo, leading the Vaqueros to a 33-2 record and a runner-up finish in the State. She scored 61 goals, made 68 steals and led the State in assists with 107.

In swimming, she posted eight All-American times and led the Vaqueros to fourth place in the State in the spring of 2016. She set five school records and received the Vaquero award in 2015-16 as the best female athlete for all SBCC sports.

"Addison is the best example of a student-athlete in my four years at SBCC," said SBCC water polo and swim coach Chuckie Roth. "She's amazing in the water and will do anything you ask. Out of the water, she's the girl that you never really have to check, she always takes care of her business.

"She wasn't a true leader when she came here and she developed into the best leader in my program. Ethical, honest and hard-working are her biggest characteristic traits and she has many more. Thanks to Addy for taking a chance on me and working hard to get to the next level."

Seale recently accepted a scholarship to play water polo at UCSB, starting in the fall of 2017.
