SBCC dominated the middle two quarters in a pair of women's water polo victories on Saturday at the Mt. SAC Classic in Walnut. The Vaqueros downed Fullerton 9-4 and Long Beach 13-8 to complete a 4-0 run in the two-day tourney.

Santa Barbara, the state runner-up last year, improved to 12-1 with its fifth straight win.

The Vaqueros outscored the Hornets 8-1 in the second and third quarters. They broke open a 2-2 game with six straight goals in the second and third periods vs. the Vikings (7-2).

Emma Fraser had four goals and four steals in the win over Fullerton. Sarah Parson added three goals while Halie Johnson had a goal and four assists.

Parson collected four goals and two steals vs. Long Beach. Tori Bray had three goals and Fraser and Meagan Mckillican added two apiece.

"We had a great pair of games today," said coach Chuckie Roth. "Our team strength truly showed in the Long Beach game when two players fouled out and we became stronger. Long Beach had 18 6-on-5 opportunities and we still controlled the pace and won the game.

"Meagan and Sarah were instrumental in the victory."

The Vaqueros will play five games this week, including a pair of WSC contests. They travel to Citrus on Wednesday for a 2 p.m. WSC battle, then take on Cuesta in San Luis Obispo on Friday at 11:10 a.m. in the first of four games at the Rabobank Invitational.
