Schutze leads Vaqueros in Southern Cal Preview

Camille Schutze took 104th in a field of 177 on Friday and SBCC's three runners finished within 24 seconds of each other in the Southern Cal Preview women's cross country race.

Schutze, a sophomore from Nordhoff High, clocked 22:52 on the 5K course at Mission Bay Park in San Diego. Mission Bay will host the Southern Cal Championships on Nov. 6.

Yuliana Garibay was 114th in 23:05 and Elin Oesterman took 118th in 23:16 for the Vaqueros, who didn't field a full squad. Krista Beck of Antelope Valley won the race in 19:13.

Canyons took the team title with 70 points, followed by Mt. SAC (88) and Glendale (106).

SBCC returns to action in the WSC Preview on Friday, Oct. 2 at Oxnard College. The women's race starts at 11 a.m.
