Shaz Breedlove finished 34th on Friday and SBCC placed eighth in the WSC Preview women's cross country race at Oxnard College.

Breedlove, a freshman from Santa Rosa, covered the 5K course in 20:55. Leana Setian of Glendale topped the 78-runner field in 18:39.

Glendale took five of the top seven spots and won the team title with 20 points. Canyons was second with 41 and the Vaqueros were eighth at 204.

Yuliana Garibay was 48th for Santa Barbara in 21:40 and Elin Oesterman took 50th in 21:42.

"This was the first time this season we had a scoring team on the line, so it was nice to see where we stand compared to other conference teams," said coach Scott Fickerson. "I can see we have potential but we need to be a lot more aggressive in our racing style. We will work hard in the next three weeks and I am confident we'll see a much better result at the WSC Championships."

The Vaqueros will host the SBCC Invitational on Friday at Shoreline Park and Leadbetter Beach with the women starting at 3 p.m.
