Yuliana Garibay finished 64th in 21:30 on Friday and freshman Christy Chavira was 82nd in 21:56, leading SBCC to 20th place in the 31-team Southern Cal Preview women's cross country meet at Irvine Regional Park.
A field of 231 runners competed on the 5K course. It was the first cross country race in two years for Chavira.
The course was fairly flat and fast with one moderate hill and temperatures were in the low 70s, according to coach Scott Fickerson.
Karla Jaime was 123rd in 23:10, Bridget Cooke took 141st in 23:51 and Lizbeth Zebadua was 169th in 25:16. Myleka John was right behind her in 174th place, clocking 25:21.
The Vaqueros return to action in the WSC Preview on Sept. 30 at Bakersfield College.
