Glendale tops cold-shooting SBCC, 76-40

Glendale outscored SBCC 36-6 from the 3-point line on Saturday en route to a 76-40 non-conference win in the Western State Classic at Bakersfield College.

Santa Barbara trailed 42-29 at intermission, then made just 3-of-17 (17.6%) from the field in the second half while getting outscored 34-11.

Glendale (5-9) hit 42.9% from the field and 12-36 from 3-point land. The SBCC Vaqueros (1-13) shot 30% and made just 2-14 from beyond the arc.

Keegan McDougal, a 5-11 freshman guard from Bonita High in La Verne, topped SBCC with season highs in points (13), rebounds (8) and assists (3). Carlos Arevalo had nine points and four rebounds for Santa Barbara, which started the game with eight players and finished with six after Peterson Wotkyns and Noah Sparks fouled out.

Joel Finney tallied 13 points, four rebounds and three assists for the Glendale Vaqueros, who had four players between 10 and 13 points. Alexis Ramos added 12 points on 4-8 shooting on 3's.

Santa Barbara committed 27 turnovers while Glendale had just 10.

SBCC will open WSC North play on Wednesday when it travels to Ventura for a 7 p.m. contest.
