Alexander Foy scored in the 64th minute and SBCC made it stand up for a 1-0 men's soccer victory on a warm Friday afternoon in Taft.

It was the first goal of the year for Foy, a 6-4 sophomore defender from Liverpool, England.

The Vaqueros (3-1-1) bounced back from their first loss of the year – a 2-0 decision on Tuesday at Glendale.

Sycamore Mitchell made his first start in goal and recorded the second shutout of the year for the Vaqueros (3-1-1). Taft is 2-3-1.

"It was a very competitive game and we competed very well for 90 minutes to get a deserved victory," said coach John Sisterson. "Everyone played well and worked hard for each other.

"They were all upbeat after a disappointing result at Glendale and it showed in their performance."

The Vaqueros are playing seven of their first 10 at home. They'll host East Los Angeles in La Playa Stadium on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
