Halloween turned into a tricky day for the SBCC Vaqueros as they tied Hancock 1-1 in a WSC North game in Santa Maria.

The 17th-ranked Vaqueros (7-3-4, 0-2-3) remained winless in conference play. The Bulldogs are 6-9-3 and 3-1-2.

SBCC has posted 1-1 ties in the last two games and three of the last four.

Adam Chenoweth staked the Vaqueros to a 1-0 lead with a goal at 14:25. Myles Baro tied it up in the 62nd minute.

"We played very well and were unlucky not to be up 2-0 at halftime," said coach John Sisterson. "Roni (Spektor) hit the bar with the goalie beaten late in the half.

"In the second half, we tested their GK on numerous occasions and he pulled off save after save. On the last kick of the game, Chris (Robinson) broke through and scored, only to be called offside."

The Vaqueros outshot Hancock 18-13 and dominated in shots on goal (13-3). Bulldog goalie Maisen Baro had 12 saves.

The Vaqueros were slated to play a makeup game with Santa Monica on Monday but that's been switched. SBCC will play three at home next week – Tuesday vs. No. 4 Oxnard at 7:30 p.m.; Friday vs. Moorpark at 2 p.m. and Sunday vs. Santa Monica at 2 p.m.
