Schroder, Enriquez run well in So Cal Championships, qualify for State

Jacob Schroder and Ytxzae Enriquez placed 67th and 77th in the Southern Cal Championships on Friday to earn spots in the State Championships at Fresno.

Schroder, a freshman from Mammoth Lakes, covered the 4-mile course at Mission Bay Park in San Diego in 22:58. Enriquez, a 6-foot freshman from Carpinteria High, was just nine seconds behind his teammate in 23:07. SBCC's Ethan Clark was 126th in 24:20.

"All three men ran really strong races," said coach Scott Fickerson. "They are continually improving and exceeding expectations. I'm really enjoying coaching these men and look forward to seeing them race in Fresno."

San Diego Mesa took the top two spots and ran away with the team title, beating Mt. SAC by 70 points (30-100). Stefen Rasmuson was the winner in 20:49 in a field of 186 runners.

Schroder and Enriquez will run in the state championships in two weeks on Saturday, Nov. 23 at Woodward Park in Fresno.
