Vaqueros drop first two games at Glendale Tournament

SBCC was held to four hits on the day on Friday and dropped its first two games of the season at the David "Hawk" Wilder Memorial Tournament in Glendale.

The Vaqueros were blanked by Antelope Valley 5-0 and surrendered three runs in the fifth inning of a 3-2 loss to San Diego Mesa. Both games were predetermined to go five innings.

Isabelle Gomez tossed a 2-hitter and struck out eight for AVC in the first game. Shelby Featherston and Paige Powell held the Marauders to three hits. Featherston walked six and hit two batters while allowing three runs in 2.1 innings.

In the San Diego Mesa game, the Vaqueros took a 2-0 lead in the first. Featherston's sacrifice fly brought home Janet Salas and Emily LoneTree scored she singled, stole second, went to third on the sac fly and scored on a passed ball.

The Vaqueros will take on L.A. Valley on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. and L.A. Harbor at 6:30 p.m.
