SBCC cruised past Antelope Valley 9-0 on Thursday in a WSC women's tennis match in Lancaster.

The Vaqueros (2-1, 2-0) recorded their first shutout of the 2020 campaign. They won the three doubles sets and dropped just one game for a 24-1 game record. They were equally dominant in 1 through 5 singles, sweeping all five matches with a 60-4 game record.

"Overall we were dominant at each position," said coach Christina Klein. "No. 6 Sydney Paillon had the toughest match and was able to remain cool while her opponent came back in the first set from 5-2 to 5-4. She was able to close out that set and finish strong in the second for a 6-3 win."

Heather Cano, a freshman from Dos Pueblos High, made her college debut and teammed with Ashley Allen to take the No. 3 singles, 8-1.

The Vaqueros will host Orange Coast on Friday at the Pershing Park courts and the SBCC men's team will also take on the Pirates with both matches starting at 2 p.m.
