Shayla Johnson collected 15 kills and 16 digs on Wednesday night, leading No. 9 Canyons to a 3-0 women's volleyball win over SBCC. The scores were 25-14, 25-11, 25-16.
Canyons improved to 7-5. The Vaqueros are 2-6.
The Cougars outhit the visitors .429 to .125.
Kenzie Garrison led the Vaqueros with seven kills and six digs. Grace Trocki added six kills and a .556 hitting percentage. Jacque Ortegon also had six kills. Lexi Michaelson, a freshman libero from Redondo Beach, recorded a season-high 15 digs.
The Vaqueros will play two matches in the Mt. SAC Invitational on Saturday, taking on Desert at noon and Mt. SAC at 4 p.m.
