Taylor Brooks and Annie Ackert scored five goals apiece on Friday and No. 3 SBCC knocked off No. 4 Long Beach 13-10 in the Mt. San Antonio Classic. Earlier in the day, the Vaqueros routed East L.A. 15-4.

Santa Barbara improved to 13-1 and handed the Vikings (7-1) their first defeat.

Zoe Johnson made nine saves and Allison Kay had three steals for the Vaqueros, who jumped ahead 4-0, then led 5-3 after one quarter.

Ackert scored four straight goals in less than three minutes, stretching the lead to 8-3 with 5:16 to go in the second period. The Vaqueros led 9-5 at halftime and 12-7 after three quarters.

LBCC got within two goals at 12-10 with 3:43 to play but Brooks responded with a score 40 seconds later.

Lanie Acevedo had three goals and four steals in the East L.A. game. SBCC was up 11-0 at the half.

Jessica Goix also had a hat trick. Goalie Jayde Maniscalco pitched a shutout in the first half, then moved to the field in the second half and collected two goals and two assists. Brooks played between the pipes for the last two quarters.

"The win vs. Long Beach was a team effort," said SBCC coach Chuckie Roth. "Madison Wayman and Hana Wigzell were both majored from the game (fouled out), so the depth really prevailed.

"Brooks had a great all-around game and Ackert played a smart game. Johnson was big in goal and Acevedo played big minutes and competed well."

The Vaqueros will play two games at Fullerton College on Saturday. They'll take on Santa Monica in a WSC contest at 8 a.m., then square off with No. 1 Fullerton (7-1) at 12:40 p.m.
