Annie Ackert and Taylor Brooks tossed in four goals each on Friday as No. 2 SBCC rallied for a 10-8 overtime win over No. 7 Golden West in the Ventura Tournament.

The game featured the top two goal scorers in California. Lauren Bellevia of Golden West had 73 goals coming in and Brooks had 71. They're now tied for the CCCAA lead with 75 goals.

An afternoon game between No. 1 Fullerton and No. 2 SBCC was cancelled due to poor air quality from the Saddle Ridge Fire.

"It was a crazy windy day and Fullerton was having travel problems because the 5 Freeway was closed," explained SBCC coach Chuckie Roth. "We didn't play our best game but we did enough to win."

The Vaqueros (18-3) trailed 5-4 at halftime and 6-5 after three periods. Ackert scored the only goal of the fourth quarter at 2:36 to tie it, 6-6, and send it into overtime (two 3-minute periods).

Brooks scored two goals in the first 65 seconds of the first overtime and the Vaqueros went on to beat the Rustlers (11-5) for the second time this year. SBCC won the 1st overtime 3-2 and Ackert scored the only goal of the second OT with 2:36 to play.

The Vaqueros will travel to L.A. Valley for a WSC contest on Wednesday at 4:15 p.m.
