Trunk-or-Treat Event to Be Hosted Next Thursday, Oct. 27

SANTA BARBARA, CA – The Santa Barbara City College Athletics Department and The Resource SB will be hosting a Fall Fest Trunk-or-Treat event for children of Santa Barbara and the SBCC community on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2022. The event will be held on SBCC's West Campus on Cliff Drive from 5-7 p.m.

The event is best described as a tailgate party mixed with Trick-or-Treating and is geared toward kids under the age of 13. Cars will be set up on the Great Meadow, decorated in Halloween themes. Kids can then go trick-or-treating at each car, much the same way they would go trick or treating door-to-door.

Admission to the event and all accompanying activities will be free of charge.

"We are so excited to have this fun community event back up and running. It was something that our local families really enjoyed in the past. Hearing our coaches' and student-athletes' positive feedback, we knew we needed to get to work planning for this year," said Ashley Farias, Trunk-or-Treat Coordinator.

This year, SBCC is partnering with The Resource SB to continue the expansion of the event. "I have been so thrilled to work with them as we continue to find ways to make this event more enjoyable for the community. We have had several conversations about how we can improve the experience for our Santa Barbara families this year and I think the community will really enjoy it. The Resource SB has leveled us up by bringing games, a costume contest, the reggae band, Forbidden Fruit, and a taco truck. They have been so easy to work with."

"Covid has shown us the importance of community and we are eager to gather together, have fun, and create traditions again. There is also huge value in teaching our student-athletes the importance and joy of community service. We are very grateful that this event provides that opportunity."
