The Vaqueros 2023 Beach Volleyball Team is Headed to the CCCAA State Championship!

SBCC Beach came ready to compete Tuesday at San Diego Mesa to secure a spot at the state tournament.
The Vaqueros played Cypress during the first match and earned a 5-0 sweep. Head Coach Ariana Garner said of the history making day of competition, "Our girls played hungry and fearless which is what we wanted to do. It's the playoffs so everyone we face is going to be good. We handled that pressure and took care of business showing excellent composure. Playing back to back matches was no easy feat but I am so proud of the grit our girls showed in the second match against San Diego Mesa. We split 1-1 winning at the 5s spot and losing at the 3s spot in the first round. Shortly after, our 2s secured a win and our 1s pair was going to a third set. Our 1s closed out the match 15-7 and then we realized we were going to state as a team for the first time in SBCC Beach Volleyball history, after the 3-2 victory. Mesa is a great team but we remained calm and patient. We executed when we needed to and got the job done."

The team is excited about the opportunity to play in the state championship tournament. Garner says, "We hope to give it our all and leave everything we've worked hard for this year out on the court. This is a special group of young ladies who have a great opportunity to make history this week. They are ready!"
