SANTA BARBARA – The SBCC baseball team closed its season series with LA Pierce with another win on Saturday at Pershing Park, scoring in all but two innings in a 10-6 victory.

It was the Vaqueros' (15-10, 8-4) second win in three days over the Brahmas (6-18, 3-9), as SBCC piled up 10 hits for the second straight time. The 10 runs were good for their most in the month of March.

Center fielder Pearce Blaney had a huge day at the plate, tallying four hits, three runs and a walk. Left fielder Caiden Matheny also shined with three hits, three runs and a pair of RBI.

Santa Barbara gave up two runs to open the game, but a Mark Hernandez home run in the bottom of the first cut the Brahmas' lead to 2-1. Then, in the second, SBCC pulled ahead for good with a three-run inning.

Matheny was the first Vaquero to reach, hitting a triple before scoring on an LA Pierce error. SBCC would load the bases before putting up two more runs on an RBI walk by Gabe Baldavino and a sacrifice fly by Andrew McKenna.

Right fielder Hunter Call hit a two RBI double to center field in the bottom of the third, bringing Blaney and Justin Deal home to make it 6-2.

The Vaqueros finally went scoreless in the fourth, but added one more in the fifth and two in the sixth on a Matheny home run to left. Blaney would cap SBCC's scoring in the seventh on a single down the right field line by McKenna to put the home side up 10-6.

Pitcher Charlie Adamson came in for the final two innings and held LA Pierce to just one hit and a walk with no runs scored. Seth White (3-2) got the win, allowing just one run and two hits in over two innings pitched. He had three strikeouts while starter Colby Downard led all players with six.

SBCC will be home once more this Tuesday to face Moorpark in the first of three games at 2:30 p.m.
