LOS ANGELES – The SBCC baseball team (6-0) made it six straight wins to start the year on Thursday at East Los Angeles (1-5), reaching double-figures in hits yet again while to win it 9-6.

The Vaqueros led by six runs heading into the bottom of the seventh before holding on for the three run win, by far its closest of the season. They also continued their incredible run of six straight wins while recording double-digit hits, their longest in over a decade.

The first four batters in SBCC's lineup had multi-hit outings, led by left fielder Patrick Walsh's team-high three hits.

Santa Barbara went up 2-0 in the first, with catcher Tyler Imbach scoring on a passed ball and Walsh hitting a sac fly to bring in first baseman Presley Kosciusko. East LA tied it up with two runs heading into the second inning.

SBCC came back with two RBI doubles in the second, first from second baseman Daniel Hirose to right and then Imbach to left. Kosciusko later scored his second run in the fifth off a Carson Cahoy sac fly to deep center, making it 5-3. Then, the Vaqueros put the game away with a big seventh inning.

The first three SBCC batters got on base. Cahoy hit an RBI single to right, followed by a Sebastian Arguelles sac fly that Walsh scored on. Vince Gamberdella scored on an East LA error, then Cahoy scored on a pop-up RBI by JP Boyle to put SBCC ahead 9-3.

The Vaqueros' defense put it away from there, keeping East LA at bay by maintaining at least a three-run lead the rest of the way. Pitcher Coleton Dahl got the win after just under six innings of work, tossing seven strikeouts.
