SANTA BARBARA – The SBCC men's basketball team played its final game of 2022 at the Sports Pavilion on Friday, and despite 21 points from forward Tommy Condon, the Vaqueros were outplayed down the stretch falling 84-81.

Condon's three-pointer with 6:32 remaining gave Santa Barbara (7-21, 2-10) its first 10-point lead of the night, 68-58. However, the Raiders (13-15, 5-7) caught fire, using a 17-5 run to take the lead with under two minutes to go.

Point guard Elijah Simpson put his own miss back up and in to tie it at 79-79 with just under a minute left. Moorpark answered with a layup from Angel Hammer on the next possession, but center Luke Sinclair got fouled and made both free throws to tie it 81-81 with 23 seconds on the clock.

Needing a stop to send it into overtime, the Vaqueros fell just short, as Moorpark's Rocco Pompeo hit a three with a second left to win the game.

Condon (7/16 FG) made 5-of-9 three-pointers, hitting the 20-point mark for the second straight outing and the third time this year. Simpson went for 15 points (7/11 FG), four rebounds, four assists and two steals.

Sinclair finished with 12 points and five boards on 4-for-8 from the field. Forwards Brycyn Gossett and Billy Whitting had nine and eight points, respectively.

The Vaqueros shot a hair under 50 percent, making 30-of-61 (49.2%) shots as a team. They outrebounded the Raiders 37-27, but allowed the visitors to shoot 41.7 percent from range and turned it over 21 times, five more than Moorpark.
