LOMPOC, CA – The SBCC men's golf team began its 2023 season on Monday with the Pt. Conception Open at the La Purisima Golf Course in Lompoc. Playing in difficult conditions, the Vaqueros finished in seventh out of 12 teams with a team score of 437 led by a phenomenal effort from Caleb Rodriguez, who tied for second place overall with a 76.
Seven total Vaqueros officially competed, with a handful of them making their SBCC debuts. Jon Medina (84) and Vito Riccabona (85) performed well for the team, while Jacob Aaron (85) tied for second among the individual competitor pool. Michael Gentry (92), Carson Mercier (100) and Cam Whicker (101) rounded out the SBCC lineup.
The Vaqueros finished four strokes behind Ventura (433) in sixth place, while Saddleback (395) took the win.
