Ventura, Ca. The SBCC men's golf team posted a team score of 394 in WSC #8 at Olivas Links Golf Club this past Monday behind a solid 77 from Sophomore Ryan Gay and a pair of 78's from sophomores Caleb Rodriguez and Finn Judge. "The team played solid golf today and we were in a good position to finish higher, but unfortunately the fog rolled in late, and we had to end the match early," said Head Coach Ernie Carrasco.

Once the deep coastal fog swept over Olivas Links, the coaches decided to give the players all pars on the last 3 holes. Although hole 16 is arguably the most difficult hole on the course, 17 and 18 are considered very scorable, with 18 being a par 5 that many players can reach in 2 shots. With the last 3 holes scoring as pars for each golfer, SBCC finished in 3rd place, only 4 shots out of first place (Ventura) and 2 shots from 2nd (Canyons). Vito Riccabona (79) and Michael Gentry (80) rounded out the scoring for the Vaqueros. SBCC hosts WSC #3 (rain makeup) at Sandpiper Golf Club in Goleta on Monday, April 17 at 10:00 am, the last regular season event of the season as the teams move into the post-season beginning April 24.
