GRANADA HILLS, CA – The Santa Barbara City College Men's Golf team finished the regular season 2nd in the WSC after a 2nd place finish at the conference finals on Monday at Knollwood Golf Course.

"It was a tough battle all season fighting for 2nd or 3rd place with Glendale, Citrus and Bakersfield," head coach Ernie Carrasco said.

Canyons took home 1st at the conference finals, shooting 35 below the Vaqueros across 36 holes. Clutching up with incredibly consistent rounds, the Vaqueros shot 379 as a team across the first round and 380 in the second. Their 759 gave them a 1-stroke advantage over Bakersfield.

Jack Blinderman led the way in the first 18 with a score of 72, while Vicente Rodriguez shot a team-leading 71 on the second 18.

For the season, the Vaqueros edged out 2nd over Bakersfield, Citrus, and Glendale, in that order. After Canyons earned 74 points thanks to 1st place finishes in all but two rounds, only 7 points separated the 2nd place Vaqueros (49) and 5th place Glendale (42). The Vaqueros four 2nd place finishes were the most in the conference.
