BAKERSFIELD, CA – The Santa Barbara City College Men's Golf team finished 4th at the SoCal Regional tournament on Sunday and Monday, hosted at Rio Bravo Country Club. Their 768 across two rounds earns them a spot in the 3C2A State Championship at Goleta's Sandpiper Golf Course.
"We will be ready for the state competition at Sandpiper," head coach Ernie Carrasco said proudly.
About the Regional, though, the Vaqueros had their second consecutive remarkably consistent performance. In the WSC Finals a week prior, the Vaqueros shot a 379 for the first round and a 380 for the second. This time, back-to-back rounds of 384 gave them a 768 overall score, 6 strokes clear of 5th place Bakersfield.
Sophomore Jacob Aaron led all Vaqs with a 73 and 75—combined, 148.
Vicente Rodriguez and Michael Gentry shot 74 and 77 in opposite rounds, putting them both at 151.
