LOS ANGELES – The SBCC men's soccer team (10-4-5, 5-3-1) put up four goals for the seventh time this season on Tuesday at LA Mission (0-14-7, 0-6-4), but a late Eagle equalizer would give the Vaqueros their first tie since the opening month of the season, 4-4.

"On a very rainy away day in LA, the boys fought hard in tough conditions on a small field," assistant coach Matt Wilkinson said. "It was another game we should have won comfortably, but for a couple of avoidable mistakes we let ourselves down again and ended up tying the game."

Freshman midfielder Timo Jansen scored the game's opening goal 23 minutes in on an assist by Bart Muns. The Eagles would tie things up just before half, but SBCC added another two goals from Sasha Halabi and Jansen in the first 15 minutes of the second half.

The 3-1 lead would turn into a 3-3 tie after two more goals by LA Mission. Will Demirkol got an assist from Halabi for a late goal that would have gone down as the winner, if not for Marcos Chavez's final equalizer in the final minutes.

"Timo Jansen continues to show his class with consistent performances, assists and goals to add to his defensive commitments from midfield," Wilkinson said. "It was very good to have Will Demirkol back from injury, getting on the scoresheet and leading from the front."

The Vaqueros now look ahead to Friday's regular season finale against Oxnard at La Playa Stadium.
