SANTA BARBARA – Hosting Glendale Thursday in its home conference opener, the SBCC men's tennis team fought hard to come away with its first win of the season by a slim 5-4 margin.

The Vaqueros came from behind to pick up a key doubles point. Taylor Kleine and Tim Braun recovered from a difficult start before picking up their game. Down love-30 in the final game, Kleine served out the match with several unreturnable first serves, leading to an 8-6 victory.

Freshman Daniel Truong served well through his match, coming away with a 6-3, 6-2 win. Arnaud Vangenechten played very solidly and defeated his opponent 6-2, 6-2.

The match was tied 4-4 and the remaining three singles matches all went the distance with SBCC winning two out of three hotly contested matchups.

Menno Raeymakers and Santiago Maldonado both came back and were victorious in their long third set matches to give the Vaqueros their first win of the season.
