Vaqs Team Season Ends; 2 Advance to State Championship

 San Diego, Ca. The SBCC Track and Field team finished on a high note with 2 members of the team advancing as individuals to the CCCAA State Finals. Sophomore Sage Holter advanced in both the 5,000- and 10,00-meter races by finishing in 1st (17:26:85) and 2nd (37:50:85) places, respectively. Ryan Gregory also advanced to the state finals by finishing in 2nd place in the Decathlon (6577 points) and 4th place in the Javelin (172'6").  Overall, the Vaqueros finished in 11th place in the SoCal Finals Men's meet while the SBCC Women took home 14th place. "Unfortunately, we were hit with a lot of injuries, particularly late in the season," said head coach Don Willis. "Despite that, I am more than proud of the job done by these athletes who competed their hearts out against the best that SoCal has to offer. Overall I happy with the results at SoCal event, and look forward to next season!"  Also of note was Zia Frausto who took home 8th place in the 400 meter (1:00:07). Both Holter and Gregory will be moving on to compete for the state title in their respective events at Modesto Junior College on May 19/20.  Click the link below for all of the SoCal results.
